A Counseling Practice Specializing in Grief, Relationships, Resilience and Spiritual Formation

Compassionate & Solution-focused

Meet Karl

Karl J. Shackelford, MDiv, BCC

I offer faith-based counseling and effective tools for building a foundation for healthy living and relationships, as well as walking through some of the most difficult times in life. I have a home office in Evergreen and also use an office in the Highlands area of NW Denver at 2855 N Speer at Clay Street. I am happy to meet virtually as well if that is your preference. My fee is $145 per one-hour session, and while I do not bill insurance, I can provide receipts for payment that may be submitted to insurance for out of network reimbursement.

Therapeutic Approach

I believe with counseling people want to be heard and understood, but also equipped with tools to grow and develop resilience to live a healthy life. I primarily use a cognitive behavioral therapy method and I am solution-focused, meaning I believe you should feel you are making progress with each conversation. As a chaplain I believe faith is a critical component of emotional health.

Qualification & Experience

I am a board-certified clinical chaplain and a registered psychotherapist with the state of Colorado. Qualified as a grief, relationship, and resilience coach outside Colorado, I bring decades of life experience, training, and skill at helping hurting people find healing. As a certified HeartMath trainer I successfully help those struggling with the effects of stress, anxiety and adversity create and store energy to build resilience. I can help with anxiety, trauma, depression, and hopelessness. I work primarily with adolescents and adults of all ages.

Begin a Conversation

Reaching out for help is not a commitment to a process, it is the beginning of a conversation. Call, text or email to start the healing process.
